Kayla has had a passion for animals since childhood, constantly bringing home stray dogs and then finding them homes. Her career began with dogs at 16 when she got her first job as a Kennel Technician at a local dog kennel. From there, Kayla got into training with her own dogs, including competing in Agility. Since then, Kayla has worked at the Knoxville Zoo as an animal trainer, at a veterinary clinic as a veterinary technician, as an animal control officer, and as a K9 Deputy with her Malinois, Xander.
Kayla’s experiences have provided her with a wealth of expertise, enabling her to work with all types of dogs. She also graduated Animal Behavior College as a Dog Obedience Instructor in 2009 and continues to expand her knowledge by going to training seminars and conferences each year.
Kayla lives on her 15 acre “dog farm” with her 3 children and all her dogs, including a retired Dual Purpose K9, Xander the Malinois, as well as 2 current working K9’s; Sev, a Dual Purpose K9, and Rush, a HRD K9. She also has several pet dogs and frequently competes in sports with them. Kayla is highly experienced working with multi-dog households, helping dogs and children coexist, and training deaf dogs!
